Albin 31 TE question

Post by Crunchtime »

Was at the new boat this weekend with my fishing partner going through the boat and noticed two hatches on either side of the boat. Behind the hatches are four tubes and we thought they were rod holders but they're only about five feet long.

Any answers to what these tubes are?

Thanks for the help.

I’ve been trying for 2 years to come up with some use for them. Let me know if you figure something out.😂

A telescoping deck brush or a boat hook, that's about all that will fit in that length or maybe a kite rod!

How about a picture of the new boat?

Thanks for the reply. I guess it's just whatever fits??

Rod holder would have been great.

I have pics (lots) on my phone ???

I'm on other forums that use tapatalk for ease of posting.

Is that possible here??

Yeah not much fits in them...Lately I have considered removing the tube and just making them into long rectangular boxes...at least I could fit some larger things in them...

I didnt see a pic of the tubes but I suspect you are looking at the tubes for engine compartment ventilation supporting airflow from the cockpit vents. Our 35 has a similar configuration.

I have two, two piece, spinning rods in the starboard tubes.
The port tubes have two custom support stanchions that hold the outriggers when down aft, they fit in the upright rod holders. The other two tubes have stanchions that hold up the cockpit sun cover, they go in the aft, aft facing rod holders.

After 17 years of ownership I decided to cut mine out this Fall. They served no useful purpose and got in the way of squeezing in on the outside of my (2) Cummins 370B's :)

Still haven’t found a use for the tubes but I did manage to get some pics up. 😃
