It only took a couple of hours for access after I joined that group.
I get their daily digest ........... mostly info regarding the 25's and 27's. I'm sure once you join you will find alot of good stuff in their archives and daily threads. Good luck in your search!

Watch out for what is in the koolade in that group   . That group is surely addicted to their boats, & for good reason.

Loads of info & opinions. I have been an active & lurking member for at least 5 years, mainly based on my 13 year ownership of a 27AC. In that time anything that could go wrong with a 27 did go wrong :? including getting hit by lightning. Loved the boat. Put over 7000hrs on it.

anyway - hauled the boat yesterday - low and behold the hull and boot were recently awlgripped - that was a nice surprise! Looks like the wooden skeg was replaced with a new treated piece of teak or mahog, can tell for sure. Bottom was perfect for a boat that has been sitting for over 6 months. not one blister. The prop and rudder were pretty crusty with barns - would explain what the preveious outing seemed a little sluggish. Zince gone to - I cleaned the prop and rudder really well - I freaked when I swa how much the zincs cost - esp that special opne that goes over the end of the prop!

The difference ws HUGE underway - 7.5 at around 1500/1800, 11.5 at 2800rpm on the Westy 70.

This is sooo different from a 36' sailboat - I kind of feel like a kid with my own treehouse - I have so many capers dreamed up.

so many questions - a few:

procedures to repack the rudder shaft (or is it like any other packing setup)?

anyone remove the headliner and put it back?

are the stanctions backed or just screwed into the deck?

how is the bow pulpit attached ?

is lam glass still avail for the cockpit sides?

anyone ever have their prop "scaned" (blue-printed)

(more esoteric)

anyone doe a aqua drive installation on one of the 27's?

anyone ever modify or install a true foils section rudder to replace the flat plate original setup (seems it would really lower turbulence) (I know its only 7 or 8 knts but I would really like to minimise as much parasitic drag as possible to get the most fuel effic. ( you can tell I used to race sailboats no?)

did you all keep the Origo alky stoves? or convert? I am clueless how these guys work.

Install a refridge? or just insulate the little cubby?

does the original wheel seem a little small? (steering wheel)

anyone cut a hatch out above the helm? (a 25 would solve thaT I guess)

could you installan overhead hatch in the head?

for the colder nights how do you all deal with installing heat? part of the ac setup or a bulkhead diesel type?

and lastly (not the last for sure)

it would be great to have a photo page of mast setups for these boats - a nice looking mast is the cats meow when its done right...

thats enough for now - if anyof you yahoo group guys are reading this can you please let me in???

cheers

posted this message for you today
Hi guys. One of our members at albinowners.net has been trying to join
your group.
He seems to be having trouble and keeps posting on our site. Since you
don't normally cruise our site, will you lend a hand to him?
Here is a link to his post:

I tried to join nearly a year ago and was refused. With their attitude, I never bothered them again.

I think those refusal notices are automatically generated. I got one before I was accepted.
