Thinking about purchasing an Albin 28

Post by Fimmy »

really want a family friendly fishing boat that we can overnight on occasionally. Love the look of the Albin. Inboard scares me a little and I'm nervous that its a little slow at 20+ knts top speed. Any reassurance from Albin owners would be welcome as well as any advice on how to find the right one. Thanks guys!

Love my 28TE
Cruise at 17 knots is plenty for us, don’t have the need to go any faster,
Bahamas in 3 hours, all good,
Inboard Diesel is great, had twin outboards before on a Glacier Bay, much more expensive maintenance @ $1,500 every 100 hours.
On the Albin it is about $200.

Use mine for fishing. Doing a long run down the English Channel tomorrow. Just point it and aim, auto pilot and enjoy the ride.

I plan to fish with it. Mostly inshore I would say, but I would like the ability to go offshore for tuna in the future. I live in NJ. Will also plan on taking it to Block Island for our yearly vacation

Plan for tomorrow is plaice and turbot fishing, not too unlike your fluke but had a few reports of tuna within ten miles of where we will be. Not something we do much of if any at all. Boat is loaded with bait and ice for the morning but more importantly we’ve some big lures just in case!

Not me, never fished. Pleasure cruising and the occasional commercial
Charter. (Sight seeing only)

You sound just like me a few years ago. The Albin is very family friendly boat that also serves as a great fishing platform. A inboard diesel is nothing to be nervous about. My Albin was the most reliable boat I've ever owned. And my wife loved it. That is a plus.
