Horn location

Post by smitty »

I have a 2007 28te Newport and my horn died this morning. I looked everywhere and can’t find the actual horn. Any help would be appreciated

While sitting at the helm, stick your head out the side window and look down. If you see a SS flush mounted oval that is slotted or louvered, that’s it! Unless PO installed something else.

Thanks Carl
I pulled that plate yesterday but thought it was a vent. I guess you have to change the horn from the inside

Do you have this? That’s the horn.

That’s an odd place for a horn. I’d put a new one in, in a place where the sound projects forward. Like under the roof shade. Just sayin’

Or leave it for protection from tee-bones at intersections.
Kahlenberg air horns up top. Yeah, baby!

Under the eyebrow of the roof or on the arch is where a trumpet was placed in earlier TE boats up until at least 2002. My 2006 - 31 TE also has the the side mounted pilot house horn as pictured above.
