I replaced my bronze shaft last year with a brand new stainless shaft. I ordered the new shaft to be a little longer to accommodate a zinc/cutter combo and still leave a bit of room between the cutless bearing. This put the prop but close to the rudder, but I plan to notch the rudder a bit more than it is already...
