Coolant Draining

Post by rebuckley »

On the Ford Lehman (120) - what have you found to be the easiest method for draining the coolant (without making a huge mess in the bilge)?

I use an old bilge pump with a 5/8 inlet fitting and a length of heater hose attached to it. With the outlet hose in a 5 gallon bucket I disconnect the hose on the port side of the engine block. This is the hose that on my engine goes to the water heater, its just like a heater hose on a car. You can determine which is the outlet hose by following them to the water heater. I quickly push the hose from the pump onto the outlet on the engine and run the pump. It takes out about 90% of the coolant.
