Lock down eased today - I can go out this weekend!!!

Post by Tree »

So as a result of this, I am here at this point in time. Just me working on the boat due to social distancing. I’ll be damned if it’s not going back in the water Friday night. 3 1/2 days to go from this

To this after one afternoon after work.

Anti foul and anodes tomorrow and finish polishing the ring deck, wheelhouse will be done once back in the water.

Splash Friday afternoon giving the anti foul 24 hours to harden.

I hurt in places of my body I didn’t know I had but the thought of socially distancing on Saturday on my own at sea is driving me to complete the fastest annual refit ever.

Fenders resocked - it’s just about 10:30 pm here. Also running a batch of visor headbands to donate to local health authorities on the 3D printer in the garage.

I’m splashing 5/20 after a rapid refit.
Can you go to the pub on the way home?
Safe travels; give my regards to The Needles.

When working on the boat, I can almost forget there's a pandemic. Same for you, Tree?

I hope to splash next week. Critical repairs are finished - i.e. the ones where you have to put something in the hull openings. Hull is waxed. The rest can be finished in the water if it doesn't happen before.

After what we thought was an early, warm spring, the weather turned cold and has stayed that way for several weeks, so it hasn't seemed as bad as it would if it were entirely covid-related.

In the sea with you!

Topsides can be done afloat unless I get time tomorrow before they launch me.

Absolutely! I’m right next to the continental ferry port here and there are lorries and such moving about like nothing has happened. Sun is out, been cold overnight here with a slight frost inland which isn’t doing my summer bedding plants any good! Forecast for the weekend is calm and warm though.

It’s so close I can taste it!

Ah! The old conundrum - do I spend the day washing and waxing, or do I spend the day prepping the veggie beds and planting out now that the weather is more settled?
Thank the gods I am totally retired and still have such a question - washing and waxing won today and tomorrow, but the veggies will get some TLC on Saturday, then some onboard odds and sods on Sunday; on Monday we mow the lawn. Tuesday - brightwork and woodwork, more Os and Ss.
Decided to let the rest of Maryland explode onto the water this week and delayed launch a week so they can all get their rocks off before I hit the waves next Wednesday.

Such is Life.

5am start. Today is the day!!

Just taken on just shy of half a ton of diesel - water tank is being topped up as I type and the kettle is on. Last few jobs and splash around lunchtime.

It’s been a stunning day. Temps in the low 20°c but warm in the sun. Tomorrow and the forecast for the week is mid 20s it just gets better!

Good for you Tree. Boat looks great and cool shot of the view from below, last time I had that view I was wearing scuba gear.

Nancy, yes, I agree on the weather. Tenacious splashed yesterday and I really had no interest in being on the water a day sooner.

Enjoyed the first cold one of the 2020 season after a nice shakedown cruise. Usually I have a boat buddy in the engine room on splash day shakedown cruise but this year it was my wife, Erika, donning the safety ear muffs …. and with a smile too!

Glad to be back on the water, social distancing just got fun.

I splashed over a week ago, and the weather has been blah until today. Hope to get out soon.

Rob, that is a great spot for your boat. Is that at a marina or your own slip?
