Table

Post by Larry cessna »

I don't sleep on the boat much and wanted to get around the table so I made a small table to use most of the time. Any one know where to get a second under mount for the table? Here is the one I made with acrylic inlay.

I ordered one from iboats.com back in 2018. It was a Springfield Air-Powered 3 stage pedestal. SKU at the time was IB00458595.

See attached picture.

The smaller table looks great and glad there is a replacement table stand.

Anybody have an idea where we can source the original table top?

Mine is from 2000 and it has past its useful life.... Need it for the kids sleep quarters.

Since you do woodworking why not make a new top? The previous owner of my boat had cut 10" off the edge of the table normally facing the stern of the boat. I guess he did it because it makes getting into the seating easier. I didn't like having to put the extra piece back a lock in with bolts every night to sleep so I made a new top. I didn't like the way the color came out but it works fine. I may make one of cherry instead of oak now. One caution, I almost relied on my measurements instead of making a mockup of the fit. It turns out that the side seat flare out going toward the stern by about 1/2" on my boat. It wasn't obvious until I tried to fit a cardboard mockup.

Yes, in the picture the table top is rotated 180 degrees. It makes getting in and out of the seating easier for us. I've seen a number of boats doing this.

Beautiful table. A new table top is on my to-do list. Since molds for these boats were made by hand instead of CNC machined, nothing on them is perfectly square or symmetrical. I discovered that the floor hatch in the cabin is about three degrees out of alignment when I installed a teak & holly floor in my boat. You definitely want to take patterns for anything you build in this boat. The old-school craftsmen were good but not as good as computer-machined tooling.
