Zinc on shaft by the wheel

Post by dgetswet »

Does anyone know what size zinc goes on the shaft by the prop?
I have not taken the prop off yet. This will be my first time removing the prop. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Since you asked. Three things:

1. Make sure the new zinc doesn't restrict water flow through the cutlass bearing - i.e., leave adequate space between the zinc and the cutlass bearing.

2. Clean the shaft to bright metal where the zinc will mount.

3. Use a good puller on the prop - not a slide hammer - and judiciously apply heat if necessary.
