Another dumb question....

Post by Bluewater »

The Yanmar 6 LP is new to me - on the top of the secondary fuel filter is what I believe should be the primer pump for use when filter changing. But the rubber-looking “push button” top has a screw in the center and does not move. Do I need to remove the screw to allow priming - or am I completely missing something?
Many thanks in advance.

It may feel a bit stiff, but keep pushing down on it. Great little pump it is.

Crack the bleed bolt on the banjo fitting on the outlet side of the filter and pump until solid fuel.

I never removed or released no screw when pumping.
Seem like the Yanmar is far more forgiving than previous engine, a Perkins.

You got me thinking now, maybe there is screw?
I changed fuel filters 3 times and used the pump 3 times, will take a look today, perhaps we have a different pump, not sure.

Sorry, forgot all about it.
Having friends in town from the old country and it is my birthday today, too busy to be of any help and right now, too buzzed to make any sense
or look in the engine compartment..
Stay tuned, my liver will get a break tomorrow and I will check the Yanmar primer pump.. :?
