Hi Dave,
I have talked to one boat builder and a couple of sawmills. I'm going to one in RI Friday to see what they got. I'm also going to start calling Maine wooden boat builders. I will inquire about ipe also.
On my deck It looks like the windless was originally bolted to the deck then later moved to the bowsprit. I think the new location allowed too much stress and the deck flexed. Teak screws leaked causing lots of water damage. Thanks for the information

Our bow cleat is on the samson post. I wonder if it makes a difference.
