Hi all.
Planning on installing a VDO analogue gauge this weekend weather permitting.
I think I’ve the basics covered - pressure gauge to be fitted into one of the existing heater coil plugs 1/4” npt fitting. Live and earth from the plug spliced to the gauge.
Only thing I am unsure of is the live feed to the gauge from ignition to make the gauge live.
What is the best place to take the feed from - ignition barrel or the yanmar instrument panel?
Can anyone confirm which cables to take the feed from - I can use a multimeter quite well but I am going in blind with this one at the moment.
Advice from previous installers appreciated. RobS I’m looking at you!!

Game over - managed to accidentally Earth out both gauge and sender unit. £150 down the pan!
So with that I’ll go the old fashioned router with a simple gauge and vacuum hose on a 1/8 npt barb!

Here's a harness I made up when redoing the entire dash and instrumentation - zoom in on the 3-wire connector at the bottom - the red with the dark tracer is switched ignition. If you want to tie in the illumination on the gauge you are installing that is the grey wire.

Cheers Rob.
I managed to splice into the exhausting loom ok in the end - got that part sorted. Just made a mess of it when connecting the ground on the sender sensor as I opted for an electronic sensor with boost output and over boost warning. Was all going very well until the wrong cable touched the wrong part!!!
