Perkins 300 TI Diesel shut off switch

Post by dgetswet »

So my newest adventure. Took the family out for a nice trip. Anchor the boat in the cove and go to shut off the engine and got nothing.
Tried holding the switch for several seconds, checked the connections on the back of the panel and got nothing.
I had to go through the portside hatch by the side birth and manually push the plunger in.

Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Don,

If you can't get an answer here, sign up for boatdiesel.com, the $25 fee per year is worth the wealth of info that the other members supply. Locally, Dave at dieseltech (end of the canal) is probably the best around, not cheap but excellent.

Good luck.

Thanks Paddy. I will look into it if I don't find the answers. I am so sure it is something stupid or simple.

So I took the panel apart and jumped the switch. Worked fine. Cleaned off the terminals added some D grease on the connectors and fixed the problem.

While I was tooling around in there I checked the fuel gauge. Found the terminal wire was disconnected. Not happy about that because it was very hard to get on and take off. this leads me to believe it was removed. But that's working now. Found it just in time as I had less than a 1/4 tank.

Now to the next issue
Thanks
