Fuel Injector Cleaner
I have read the Lucas Oil has a good product to mix with diesel fuel and that it will clean the injectors and valves. I have a small "tick...tick...tick.." noise and was told by a reputable mechanic to try an injector cleaner. Anyone have a better suggestion?

Re: Fuel Injector Cleaner
I have been running Lucas for the past 100 hours and so far so good. I had the valves adjusted last December at 1520 hours and the mechanic said I might need to look at the injectors at some point, raw diesel sheen was coming out of the exhaust. I decided to try a cleaner first (what the heck) and without jinxing myself, the boat is now at 1620 hours...feels great, no sheen, clear exhaust. Not sure if its snake oil but for $25 a gallon from Walmart and positive results so far, I would say give it a try.

Diesel Purge. I typically run it straight through the injectors if possible

Re: Fuel Injector Cleaner
Do you run it through the engine fuel filter? Similar to the Seafoam process? I guess I should clarify that my boat has the Yanmar 6LP, not sure if and how I can run it directly through the injectors.

Re: Fuel Injector Cleaner
you can by filling the fuel filter with it but only on a hot engine - its an old trick done here for getting taxis through the MOT for the road department people.
For me its a product call BG244 - actually an american product used by the navy and air force of all people. Removes carbon deposits with ease. I've also used it in my road vehicles - first time was on a smal engine with 90,000 miles. It returned a 9mpg difference after using it
https://www.bgprod.com/ i think is the website. There is a good article on there about some tugs in sweden that couldn't be used due to the emissions - before and after analysis shows the results and i swear by it.
