Fuel gauge and midship bilge pump

Post by Yearwood »

Fuel gauge blew 5 amp fuse and today got to check it further and found the gauge circuit is also energizing the midship bilge pump. Anyone have this problem. Guessing xover is in panel.

Someone might have landed the wire on the wrong breaker. The bilge pumps normally have a battery always hot connection (float switch) and the one for the switch (manual control).

Thanks. Over the winter had all water hoses replaced. While trouble shooting today with more agile son he was following wire to sender. In moving the wire the problem "disappeared".

My trim tab problem appears to be a bad power unit.

I had to replace my switches on the trim tabs. My power unit was fine mine was the switches.

Yes. I did that some years ago. We checked the panel yesterday, the switch, and the power at the pump as well as the ground there. All checked out.
