Trying to remove our holding tank, stuck

Post by Mike Ebert »

I'm replacing the hoses, macerator pump and holding tank on a 2000, 31TE. The holding tank is affixed to the plywood shelf that it sits on but I can't figure out how. Is it glued? There are no straps or brackets holding it down. I'm hoping to get it out whole without having to cut it up.

I remember no straps on my 28 as I visualize it now. No tabs with screws or finger type slats going into indents holding at the bottom only. I'd look for that then get a wide prybar and try and move around. Why change the tank? I've been thinking a larger tank might be on the project list but really haven't needed a larger one yet.

I just replaced all head hoses, joker valves and discharge pump on my VacuFlush head system. Oh what joy!

Post a couple of pictures so that we don't have to guess.

I re-engineered and re-did the black water system 4 seasons ago and used this EPDM Trident sanitation hose. Great stuff - easy to work with and odor free. Comes in white too. WAY better than the PVC helix stuff.

My redo consisted of 36 ft. of the Trident 102 (white sanitation hose). For two short tight bends, totaling 38 inches, the Trident was just a little too stiff and I used Raritan SaniFlex. A worthy project as this is the first time my holding tank bilge area is 100% odor free!
