I snapped off the positive lug on my starter solenoid. It appears to be integral to the starter. I went on line to contact Peninsular. They have, apparently, been sold to Unique Diesel in Texas. We'll see what the response is.
In the meantime: Does anyone know if there is a replacement starter available from another source. The starter is on an adapter but I imagine the starter itself is a stock item. Any thoughts?

Re: Peninsular Starter Replacement
A starter rebuilt shop will be able to tell you what you need. They might even be able to repair what you have. Those guys are wealth of knowledge.

Thanks! That’s my current plan for tomorrow morning. I’m going to assume the solenoid is a standard item

Re: Peninsular Starter Replacement
Good advice,I have a Peninsular in my Albin and when the starter needed to be rebuilt or replaced
I first checked with my rebuild guy who could not get parts for my starter
I ordered a new one from Peninsular but it didn’t quite fit
Without grinding away at the exhaust
So I tried a few other rebuild shops in a neighboring state and they were able to rebuild it with parts on hand
Good luck and don’t toss that starter you might hand to rebuild it now matter how unique it might be,
FYI Unique Diesel has been great! I’ve bought from them twice,A Complete turbo and odds and ends

Re: Peninsular Starter Replacement
Thanks Pedro!
In order for the existing starter to fit, there is an aluminum shim. Apparently, it reduces tooth engagement somewhat but hasn’t been a problem.
My local shop put in a new solenoid ($25) and it worked great when I reinstalled it.
Unique seems like a good operation. His recommendation was to install one of their gear reduction starters. I use the on a coupe vintage cars I have and they are great- more efficient , lighter. Only issue is the price - a decision for my winter project list;-)
