Small leak at bottom of head partition

Post by Nancy »

We have an intermittent small leak at the bottom of the head partition. We think it occurs when we're underway. Water very slowly seeps from the bottom of the wall partition where it meets the door frame. Then it flows forward and makes a very small puddle. If the shower had been used, I'd suspect a leaking floor-wall joint in the head. But the shower hasn't been used. There is no water on any floor surfaces in the head.

I opened the inspection port in the head sole, which leads to the bilge, and the area of the leak isn't connected .

I emptied the hanging locker and found no water there.

Any ideas where I should look next?

Have you checked the hullside compartment behind the cabinet door in this pic? Water could be running from there and under the raised platform for the toilet..

I haven't checked that compartment yet, but I will. But that compartment opens to the hull, and the partition isn't connected to the hull as far as I can tell. But what do I know. Water finds the strangest paths.

Nancy,
I’m looking for the same leak I think. Last week we noticed the carpet there was wet. No other obvious signs of water anywhere. We can’t tie it to anything we remember as far as weather, rough seas, shower use. Had not considered the door frame joint. We’ll keep looking.

Got the same leak and same puddle outside and just forward of the door. A bit of a mystery so far..
