<r>Okay so took a quick look at the boat today. Took photos of the things that bothered me and need cleaning or re placing. Anyone have any good ideas on cleaning the chrome on the boat. Particularly looking at gear shifter
Thanks
Don

Re: Clean up chrome
I had the same issue, and this deep corrosion is a real problem. I think the only way to restore it is to remove the affected part and take to someone who can re-chrome it. That or replacement. I may be wrong, but after many attempts at cleaning it off with most of the recommended metal cleaners it still looked ratty.
I am however, cheap, and after cleaning it down to bare metal I applied a can of spray chrome - not perfect but a bit better (and $7.00 plus time)

Re: Clean up chrome
I use Never-Dull that you can get from auto parts store on my rails. Works good. Tried it on the shifter but not much improvement.

Re: Clean up chrome
Thanks guys. I figured it would not come off. I was hoping for a miracle I guess lol. But I will look into the never dull for my rails. Some of them have some spots.

I've hit mine with everything and nothing has cured it.

Re: Clean up chrome
Have you tried Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish? I'm pretty sure that's what we used on ours and it made a huge improvement.
