Replaced impellar today. No issues. Done in 30 minutes

Rydlyme flush last week. What a difference in the amount of water moved through the raw water side. We flush the motor with 5 gallons of fresh water every time we run the boat. Now it sucks the 5 gallons down in short order.

Replaced both end caps on the oil cooler.

Boat is running tip top and ready for tuna this weekend.

Glad to hear you got the motor back up and running 100% and the cooling is in tip top shape. Hopefully that prevents an issue like you had last time! Now get out there and bend a rod

Any idea?

Almost certainly will. I always flush with rydlyme prior to changing zincs. As I make my own inserts, it cleans the threads up and saves me tapping out the remaining zinc left behind.

Darn, I just did the annual zinc replacement a few months ago.
Guess I should remove the raw water zincs only, anybody remember how many of those versus coolant zincs, if any? Or are they all raw water zincs?
Believe I replaced 6 total including tranny cooler.

I've never used Barnacle Buster, but have used Rydlyme. I'm sure that they are similar / acid based. Remove the anodes from their brass plugs as the anodes will get eaten and disappear during the flush. Remember to find where your dripless hose originates from, remove it and plug it or you'll piss the Barnacle Buster out through your shaft seal .. :wink:

My shaft seal feed came from the transmission cooler on my 6B and comes off of my water pump on my QSC. Both are 3/8" hose. Just pop off the shaft seal feed and replaced with a short length of 3/8" hose and plug with a bolt and done.

Perhaps I should leave it alone and not run no acid through my expensive engine and no acid through my tranny cooler because it is all good. :mrgreen:

I here you .. I would love to turn my back too, but doing a Rydlyme flush once I'm in the water as a stop gap to a full heat exchanger and cooler tear down for cleaning, gaskets and grease. That was last done spring of 2014.

The fun never ends!

Thx for the heads up, just checked BB’s webpage: They do recommend removing the zincs prior to flushing the engine.
Most of the them zincs in the 28TE Engine Box/Yanmar are a pain in the rear to remove and replace, ain’t doing it now, just did oil/filters/coolant/zincs, etc a few months ago.
Will do the flush next time the zincs are due and at the end of their life, next year, or late this year.. :shock:
