Running lights

Post by dgetswet »

Has anyone changed their running lights to LED lights? I have a 2005 28 flush deck and was just righting my list of things to change or fix. Last year I could not get the starboard light to stay on. When I went to check the bulb I found out the 3 inch screw that holds the cover on was missing and the cover was put on with caulking.
Funny thing is the screw was special ordered by West Marine (a dealer for them). That very thin 3 inch screw was $15 bucks. Since I was going to clean up the lens and get the light working I might as well look into changing the set up.

Don
Thanks

Rob
Thanks The bulbs I have are different. They seem to be a little larger. I would imagine I would have to change to receptacle to accept an LED light. I was hoping someone had already done it and would be able to give me a website to find them.

Marine Beam has a good selection as well. I've used them on both Albins for lots of LED conversion. Good phone support too.

I thought you were looking to change out the entire assembly for an LED unit. Didn’t realize you were just looking to do a bulb upgrade ...

Try the website “ Marinebeam.com” they have some pretty cool stuff, I am removing the aluminum arch on my 31TE and installing a Scanstrut mast. I was looking at anchor lights and found a cool LED bulb that is both a Tri- color light and a white all around light with built in strobe .

Just make sure you buy green and red led bulbs. A white led bulb behind a a green lens will still be white light. I replaced mine a few years back for a more intense light in fog for around £6 each.
