Power has just been restored after a couple days worth of falling trees taking us offline. This is the worst we have seen in these here parts.

Awakened a little after 11pm by all the lights and various appliances that were on and running when the power went out, I couldn't sleep and had to check in at AOG. Funny thing, when the power goes out, and you live in an area with spotty cell phone coverage, certainly nothing to carry any data to speak of, you lose touch with the world. I have a transistor radio I keep on the boat when I am putzing. The power company, back when we had land lines, used to have a hotline you could call to at least hear somebody say they were, in fact, working hard to get your power back on. Now they say, check our FB page. Now for the old man rant...I'll spare y'all. Enjoy the pics.

That pitch on your boat tarp roof sure came in handy!

And the story from the north is pretty much the same with fewer pictures. Lots of trees down, power outages and snow. But my tarp is working well!

Yes, the tarp works great! The last time I sat at that table, I remember sunshine, warm breeze, fantastic salmon dinner, great company and conversation. Let's do that again, sooner than later! Hood Canal this time.
Now if this snow would just go away. About the time I clear a path to the mailbox, the road grader/snowplow piles another four foot berm. I thought I left the midwest 45 years ago.

A far cry from the way it was on 25 June 2018....

Winters are usually warm down here, but so far this month has been the 4th coldest February in 50 years. We were out on the lake over the weekend with our sailing club's "Sweethearts race & cruise" with us serving as the committee boat for the start & finish, then spent the night rafted up with other sailboats. Inside the cabin was 45 degrees when we woke up this morning before we turned on our "Mr. Heater". We'll never forget the hospitality of dkirsop & the grilled salmon we enjoyed while sitting at that very same patio deck table.

We are supposed to get some sun later in the day. This same thing happened yesterday and by afternoon it was all gone. Now THAT’S Hood Canal snow! (This looks a bit more serious.)

Just got word that my parts have been despatched from the UK. I'll go with their spelling. Soon, the fun begins!

After many power outages in Jan and Feb the parts to repair my generator arrived last week! What is it with British Mail - parts from Sweden only take a week! Time to throw another log on the fire.
