Anyone here have any experience with high headwinds or small/medium seas? I am curious what it does to the speed? I have a A25 Deluxe with 24hp.
Young and dumb, heading to the Bahamas in March. Trying to figure out some worst case speeds.

Well, our boat had once been based in Florida several previous owners back circa 1990, and according to documentation passed along to us, several runs out to the Bahamas had been made from south Florida, roughly 90 NM I think. Our boat has a 24 HP Yanmar, but is the early full displacement, ie not "DeLuxe" version. Does quite well going into head seas. Speed is about 6.5 knots. That said, it does not like beam seas and is quite rolly. The boat can handle more than you can. Here's us being towed into a 3 to 4 foot head sea off Nelson Island in British Columbia, Canada in 2016 when our dinghy broke loose from snap davits & the painter fouled our prop. In this case we were being towed at about 7 knots. Was a wild ride, but the boat handled it well. After all, Per Brohall designed the A25 for North Sea waters. Yes, that's me tending the tow line while tethered in & sitting on the cabin top. My wife was at the helm steering. (click on picture for enlarged view) We had been adrift & heading for that rock in the background. You'll be fine.
