Attaching finger slides to glass helm windows

Anyone have experience reattaching a finger slide to the sliding glass helm windows?
What adhesive did you use?
Rear view mirror adhesive?

I tried superglue, but it didn't stay attached very long. I probably didn't clean the old adhesive off the slide well enough - it's not easy getting it off. I discovered that I have one or two spare slides with stickum on them. I might give up and just put on a new one and save the old one for when I'm really desperate.

Rear view mirror adhesive did the trick for me.

I bought new clear ones from a glass repair place, cleaned the glass thoroughly, and simply stuck them on - peel and stick. That was four years ago. Worked perfectly.

Don't know if these will work for you, but I tried the Perko window sliding window handle shown in the link below. They work well, are inexpensive and are very easy to attach, just squeeze them a little and slide them onto the edge of the glass ( a dab of gorilla glue is good).

For what these things cost you'll spend more money on adhesives than replacements. The adhesive backing as supplied was very strong.

Leave it to you, Rob, to find the best deal! These are nearly half the price of the ones I bought four years ago and free shipping brings them to 1/4 the price. Everyone should stock up.

I have four coming for the salon sliding windows on my CC. I remember having my doubts about the adhesive back when applying them on T-R but they were great, just make sure you get 'em in the right spot the first time, once it's on, it's on for good. I used some blue tape and made a box to center the pull in when I stuck it in place. If it were crooked it would have drove me batty ...... How did we ever survive before blue tape, and the internet !

Thanks for the info. With the weight of these windows I thought it would be difficult to find something that would hold but it sounds pretty straight forward.

I too, tried to reattach one that had come off with super glue and it lasted most of the season but came off again about a month ago. I went to two glass repair places and they didn't carry them and could recommend anywhere else either. I tried a search on Amazon at that time but didn't use the term "finger slides" or "finger pulls" (I think I tried everything else I could think of). Mine are now on the way - in time for next season. The little things can make you so happy!!
