Lake Champlain to marathon FL in an A27
Started from Orwell VT on September 15. Went down the Champlain canal and out to the Atlantic through the Verrazano narrows. Currently am in Cape May NJ waiting on weather to go down Delaware Bay. I have an 1984 A27 with 4D61 engine. I bought it last year. So far everything has worked flawlessly. It is great on fuel and easily handled. Will keep updating my progress.

Wow - sounds like an awesome trek. Are you solo or crewed?
There are several 27FCs in the Chesapeake Bay, so please keep us up-to-date on your progress.
Have you read "Smacksman's" almost identical adventures on AOG.

I am crewed so far, brother and cousin. There will be a crew change in the Chesapeake. I have not read smacksman’s version but I will since I have time to kill in cape may. I found Lake Champlain and the canal were easy, Hudson River and ny could be rough Atlantic Ocean was easy when you wait for weather and nj had some thin water but Delaware bay was way too exciting so here I sit.

Wow! Enjoy the trip! We spent 7 months last year from Virginia to the Keys and back on our A27 with the same engine. We are on the Chesapeake, at the Maryland/Virginia line. You’re welcome to tie up at our dock if we are in town, or we can join you at anchor on the Little Wicomico.
American Diesel, the experts on our engines are also just a 25 minute drive by car away, so something to keep in mind.

What is your boat's name. I hope to be fishing around Deale / Chesapeake Beach during the week and would be pleased to see another 27.

Wow! You are flying! Unfortunately we are in Florida for the next few weeks...the way you’re going, maybe we’ll meet here instead! . Sorry we’ll miss you!
Heres a link to a couple of sites about our trip and lessons learned. viewtopic.php?t=10643
Additionally, be sure to join MTOA or at a minimum, subscribe to links re ICW alerts give the hurricane impacts. Hearing that people should wait awhile before heading to NC and SC due to floods / debris. Keep us posted on your travels!

Re: Lake Champlain to marathon FL in an A27
Friday we arrived at Calvert Marina off the Patuxent River in the Chesapeake Bay. My brother and cousin left for their homes in TX and I will spend 10 days here catching up with old friends from my navy days and waiting for my sister to show up and complete another third of the voyage. The weather has turned warm and cloudless for a change. Getting the boat organized and a little maintenance completed.

Re: Lake Champlain to marathon FL in an A27
Haven't checked this page lately so am a bit behind. Nice little spot that the Calvert Marina. I know it well. Do they still have that old Mercedes beater car that you can borrow to make store runs?
Gosh time flies! Hard to believe it's been 3 years since we were there with our A25. I'd say if you're still holed up there then take a run up St. Leonards Creek to Vera's, but that place is probably closed for the season by now, and if open at all would only be on weekends.
In any case, if you're still there on the Chesapeake might be good idea to sit tight for a few days until the remnants of Hurricane Michael fizzle out & hopefully don't rough things up too much on the Bay & points south. Also it's fun to tour the Calvert Marine Museum & Drum Point Lighthouse if you have a little downtime.
Vera's on St. Leonard's Creek Sunrise looking east toward Calvert Marina Bon Voyage!
