Hot water heater.....where is it???
I have looked for the hot water heater.....cannot find it. Any suggestions. Once I find it, should I do a check of some sort before I energize it? Owned this little used boat for less than 4 years, but have this little issue for the first time. Thanks for any suggestions>

Re: Hot water heater.....where is it???
Sounds like you are having a fun week. Is this a new purchase? What year? The hot water tank on my '04 is under the helm seat. I usually fill the fresh water tank, clear out the winter antifreeze, then turn it on via the a/c side of the panel. No idea about the a/c unit as I am without one. Someone else can help there.
Good luck

Ours is below and outboard of the steering wheel. You have to climb down into the center bilge to see it. Take a flashlight.
I would make sure that water flows out of the hot water faucets before turning on the AC breaker.

Nancy.....why is there a "connection" between the AC and the hot water heater?...thanks for your help....
BTW....still have a C80 display that is dark....I was told that a C95 by Raymarine would just plug in as a substitute....do you know about this? thanks

Re: Hot water heater.....where is it???
If there is no water in the hot water tank and you turn on the electricity (AC), the heating element will be destroyed.

Re: Hot water heater.....where is it???
John, in this context, AC=Alternating Current, i.e. the 110V circuit breaker for the hot water heater. There's no connection at all to the air conditioner or its 110V breaker.
To recap, make sure that water flows out of the hot water faucets before turning on the 110V circuit breaker for the hot water heater. Otherwise, you risk burning up the element in the HW heater.
As for swapping a C95 for the C80, I wouldn't take anyone's word for it except Raymarine's. Give them a call. My suggestion is to jump on Doug's generous offer to pass along his C80 unit. No question about whether that will work, and it looks like the price is more than right.

Re: Hot water heater.....where is it???
I have an old round water heater under my helm station as well. In the older TEs, there isn't any access to remove the water heater other than the main centerline hatch. Looks almost impossible to get out of there. Mine was disconnected from the water system when I got it, no idea if it works or not and not sure if it is possible to get it out without cutting the deck under the helm area.

It’s difficult enough with the hatch under the helm in my 2000 vintage. I had to replace mine a couple of years back and being 6’4” it want easy!Sisu22 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 10:51 am I have an old round water heater under my helm station as well. Anyone replaced the old water heater without a hatch in there?

Are your batteries located in the hole between the seats? First thing I think I’d do is remove those for more room. I can’t think it’s going to be an easy job.

No, one is under the companionway steps and one is under the quarter birth (well two are under there now, since I added one).

Re: Hot water heater.....where is it???
We thought we were going to have to replace the hot water heater last year. It looked like we'd have to remove all of the equipment in front of it on the platform. Seemed like it would slide out once that happened. Good luck!
