Re: New member - Rebuild
Cheap way to do decking in cockpit.
Just pull out the plywood floor panels and sand down then coat with some contact adhesive for good measure.
The self adhesive vinyl flooring comes in 6inch strips form the diy store at $9 for 6 strips - cut them to 2” and caulk with black silicone. All done for $30
(The fiberglass section outside the rear cabin door will get the same treatment - followed by the galley floor)

Great job Hortense! This is similar to what I have on my boat. It works well and you will be very happy with the result.

Re: New member - Rebuild
To cut the strips I turned them upside down and used a very sharp craft knife and a steel straight edge.

Hortense you have inspired me. I am about to paint the cabin interior and will adopt what you did. Great solution. And I hope I can source those stick on vinyl strips here. Could be difficult.

Self adhesive vinyl 3mm thick 150x900mm planksshould be available at most DIY stores.
Be careful to use silicone mastic between the strips and dress it to a concave shape while still wet, with the rear end of the mastic tube. Wait til it dries before you wipe away the surplus that is left on the vinyl either side of the joint - silicone doesn’t adhere to the top surface of the vinyl and it’s easily wiped away when dry.

Thanks for the tips, Hortense. Do you have a brand name for the vinyl planks?

I would guess Home Depot would stock this in Canada- I chose beech 150mm x 900 as the closest to a teak colour.

Re: New member - Rebuild
I know but there is a happy reason - I’ve bought another big boat - a broom 44.
It’s been a happy journey bringing the Albin back from a smelly old hulk that my wife didn’t want to board - to a tidy boat that anyone that knows the marque would be proud of. Our first trip out on the river reminded me of what I missed about a live aboard sized boat.
