What boat? What steering system?
I am going to say I could put almost any wheel on anything but it might involve some adapter or machining.

I'm sorry I am talking about a 2006 28 TE flush deck. I have only seen stock Albin wheels on every 28TE I have seen.

I have seen adapters listed in defender. You need to know the size of your steering shaft and if it is tapered or not. If the new wheel shaft dia is larger then you can buy a bushing/adapter and make it fit

The first albin i looked at was fitted with an Edison Stainless wheel - i've also seen another for sale with one since.

No problem.
No adapter needed for a different steering wheel:

I think that would make a nice upgrade for Sonny IV! 8)

Yeah, $150 at West Marine.
Easy upgrade and so much easier to spin with the knob than the standard Albin “Grab the rubber/leather rim and hold on hard while you turn”.

Another option: To my 28 and 31 standard helm wheel, I added the black Edson Sportsman PowerKnob using the provided strap. To dress up the black knob I called Edson to get a stainless center cap insert to swap out with the black insert .. no problem and no charge both times and they sent one right out. Different solution and the same result for easy handling. Even before the Albin days I did this to my prior boat helm wheels.

How was the process for swapping out the wheel to that Edson? Really like it. A little summary would be nice
