Cannot find A/C thermostat

Post by mjohnh »

I have never used the A/C. The unit is under the galley cushion forward. I cannot find the control. It should be a 3 knob panel someplace....maybe electronic....but, cannot find it. Any suggestions. Thank you.

Have you looked on the left side of the microwave cabinet? Lean into the quarter berth and look to the right at the outside of the cabinet that holds the microwave.

This A/C seacock is next to the water heater :D

Open the center hatch between the helm seats, to starboard should be the seacocks for waste, head supply and A/C and then up on that platform towards the hull side should be the water heater.

Have you downloaded the PDF file for 28TE Tech Spec?

I would recommend you get the document off the website and "Know" where all the thru hulls are and exercise them. I'm not trying to be a jerk but when the S*** hits the fan you "Need" to know this for your own sake.

Guess these are all a bit different. My A/C sea cock and water pump are located just to stbd of centerline, near tranny and shaft log on my flushdeck. Ken Hilton told me you sometimes have to remove hose on top of unit and let it flow to prime. Pump won’t pick up suction if air bound. Control is located on fwd end of port galley cabinet. Guess that’s what make these boats fun!

As Ken suggested, I used to remove the outlet hose on the A/C pump to prime, but have found it's easier to just be sure that the seacock is open when underway at season's first launch and water gets forced through the forward facing scoop, strainer and then the pump. Hit the dock, plug in, run A/C and all set for the season.

Makes sense, had to replace saltwater wash down pump. Would not pick up. Opened sea cock while underway and let force prime it. I ‘ll try that formAC pump if I plan to use it!
