Love that British slang...."hob"? Nice work in the cabin refurb. Seriously, that's a nice sink/cooktop setup. Is there a reason why the cabinet joinery is white instead of teak finish? Preference or necessity?

The varnish was in poor condition and if I sanded it I would go through the thin veneer in a second - plus I feel that the white with teak edgings lifts the dull 70s atmosphere - so necessity and preference.

The white sure brightens things up. I am keeping my stained wood finish to accent my threadbare, sun-bleached and tattered curtains for that ultimate 70s look.

I need to keep your pictures from the Starfleet Commander or I will be redoing all my wood. (Though I admit I like it a lot.)

I only get my inspiration from the members on this forum and love to see how others have come up with some great ideas like folding helm seats and cabin floor coverings.
I’m just about to attack the floors and am looking for ideas less costly than the laminates I’ve been looking at.
A friend of mine routed out some grooves in plywood then caulked and varnished - looks great.
Here’s what I did to the helm seats
