Fire extinguisher recall

Post by Serenity »

Kidde corporation has a recall on their fire extinguishers. The process is simple. Call the customer service department at 1-855-271- 0773 and mention the recall. Have the serial number of the unit available, not the model number. If the unit qualifies, they will send you a new one. When you get the replacement, they will require you to send back the defective unit in the same package that it came in.
Kidde will provide you with a Fed-Ex label and a phone number to call for a pick-up at your house or place of business, I sent back 5.

I did the recall exchange several months ago - all new extinguishers on the boat and at my office, all for $0.00. Win-win..
Of course the hole pattern on the brackets for the replacement marine unit is slightly different than the original one - so annoying! They do that crap on purpose!!

Just to add, it’s a worldwide recall so check your local kidde contact to replace. I’ve replaced two despite them being originals when the boat was imported.

Me to - got four new freebies - awesome customer service.

Speaking of which .........

Tree - broke down on the A27 outside Chichester last week - the scary fast 2-lane bit - in the rain. AA was fabulous, towed me to Tesco parking lot in 20 minutes. Fuel Recovery van showed up 15 minutes later and did the necessary; back on the road in 1 1/2 hours. YES - I did put 60 liters of gas into a rented diesel Ford.

Not Good Doug! Should have let me known you were here - I was working on the boat 15 miles down the road!

All was well in the end - only got about 1/2 mile before the car stopped, and no damage to engine. Once refueled I was able to continue at normal road speed + to Heathfield.

Wish I had known you were so close though.

I used the old bracket on the one I got replaced on the "new" center console.
It was strange...after I input all the info on Kidde's website, I got I got a message saying that my unit was NOT part of the recall.
I didn't think any more about it but a week later I got a new one delivered to the house with the return label and all that.
I think I have 5 on the Albin and I'll have to deal with that when I get back north end of May.
