Holding tank vent filter

Post by Serenity »

Where is the holding tank vent filter on a 98 28TE? I fractured a vertebrate on my back, so my mobility is limited.

My 2001 did not have one either, and, if I had to guess, few, if any, were factory installed. I added one behind the “L” panel below the throttle lever. I removed the caulk and added a recessed handle so the panel can be removed to change out the in line filter easily.

We have a 95 and the vent is on the starboard side over the batteries. We added a filter which works well.

Hey Max,

Do you have a vacuflush? If so, the filter should be on top of the tank. If not...you may not have one.

Dometic has a new “one size fits all”filter kit, with a bunch of different hose size adapters, so it may be a good choice if you end up adding one.

Hope to see you at the rendezvous!

Holding Tank Vent Filters were not fitted with the build and must be added unless you have a Vacu-Flush System and those filters are fitted to the top of the holding tank.

I fitted a vent filter to my 28 by simply cutting into the middle of the vent line in between the holding tank and the the vent hull fitting. Very simple.

I do have a vacu-flush system. I knew I saw it somewhere. Right now the yacht is at the yard having her 315 ponies put back in. ON another note, we just got back from the Bahamas and I think we should have our "rendezvous" at the Atlantis marina. Fuel might be an issue.

The holding tank filter on a 28TE with Vacu Flush was mounted under the helm seat. Great place if you are one of the seven dwarfs.

My 30FC is behind the storage bin by the helm. Here's picture of my old one and the new one I installed Saturday along with new vent hose.

JBrooks, dang! That looks like projects on my boat. Vacuum cleaner at the ready, a clear deck and what kind of beer is THAT? Yuengli?? Maybe I need to get away from the PNW once in a while.

That's Yeungling Lager. Oldest brewery in the US out of (I think) Pennsylvania - lager is a decent brew, but I prefer their "Lord Chesterfield" ale

I didn't see the beer until after I posted. My eye must have moved toward the beer when I took the picture.

Don’t have a holding tank vent filter.
Considered one as bad smell was coming from the vent.
Started using holding tank chemical instead, no smell, life is good.
