Compadre's new paint

Post by Ben423 »

Our '05 28TE got a fresh coat of Awlgrip's new HDT (High Definition Technology) paint. This new material has the same brilliant shine as regular Awlgrip plus it is repairable and can be wetsanded and polished.

Nice.
I considered painting my 28TE as well,.
Got firm estimates here in Fort Lauderdale: $17.5K and $12.5k.
How much is it in California?

The original quote was $15K for topsides and fresh bottom paint. My local Awlgrip rep offered free primer and topcoat along with their factory triggerman if I was willing to take a chance on the new Awlgrip HDT paint, which saved me about $3k. HDT is their new repairable material and has not yet been released into the market.

We used Sunset Aquatic Marina in Huntington Harbor. We chose them because they're nearby and would work with me regarding the experimental paint and outside painter. Our local Awlgrip rep, Stan Susman did a great job pulling the project together and Ray Tucker, Awlgrip's premier triggerman did a masterful job in challenging conditions (the boat was painted outdoors). I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome.

You just sent me a challenge to try to get my blue hull in a diamond condition as your is. Beautiful and thank you for sharing.
