Surveyor and mechanic in Connecticut

Post by dkircher »

Hi Albin friends,

We are considering purchasing a boat located in Essex. Can anyone recommend a surveyor and mechanic that we can hire to examine the boat?

Thanks!

Hello. I live in Essex and winter my boat at Brewer Dauntless Shipyard. They have excellent mechanics with all the diagnostic tools. Matt Beer is the go to guy there. His number is 860-767-0001.

Jack,

Thanks for the referral.

Jleonard,

A 2007 Nordic Tug 32, with a Volvo engine. I will miss being an Albin Owner

I would suggest that you make sure the surveyor or mechanic is familiar with Volvo engines of that era so that he/she can advise properly.
Good Luck!

Try Barnaby Blatch at http://www.marinesurveyor.com/atlantic/

He saved me bunch of $ and a trip north when I was looking for an Albin in 2014.

Used Barnaby as a surveyor for my insurance change - very nice guy and very reasonable.

Thanks everyone. Of course, I would prefer not to use a broker-recommended surveyor. So I’ll contact Barnabas. And, Jack, I talked to Matt Beer while in Essex and he referred me to two Volvo mechanics. Great guy!
