Air Condition filter..

Post by Norseman »

Noticed recently my AC unit is missing the filter.
Does anybody have a source for the original filters, or good copies?
Looks like the AC maker is out of business..

You can get "hog hair" from most hardware stores and cut it to fit.

Hog Hair:
Should try a farm instead? :)

Got some aluminum mash at Ace Hardware, will try to cut and Velcro, then see how it works out.
Thx

Velcro glue did not stick to mesh, a dab of duct tape seems to help.
Temporary solution until I find the correct filter: There is a slot at the bottom for the filter frame.
Will start with Google, then eBay and Amazon.

Sure, but how to attach it?
Need a frame?
Does Velcro tape stick to it?

No velcro will not stick. You can bend pieces of stainless or copper wire and shove it through the pad into the coil but not all the way through into the fan inlet.

Duct tape - that’s pretty close to what “duct” tape was originally marketed for and it is HVAC so technically it is a proper method. It’s not something you will be changing often, if at all... i just hit the face of mine with the brush attachment on a skopvac, never bother to actually change the filter.
