Nice stovetop toaster
Just got mine and tried it out. Much better than the devices which hold the bread at a vertical angle over the burner.

Re: Nice stovetop toaster
That looks great. I miss my toast on the boat and used the high angle cans long ago and far away and was similarly disappointed. Does it pick up much fuel note in the taste? May have to switch to classier fuel on the Origo, just for toast.

No natural gas taste so far.

Re: Nice stovetop toaster
I make toast in a lightly buttered cast iron frying pan, one side at a time. I'm obviously not a toast purist.

I do that sometimes too but that's fried bread and not toast.

Cast-iron on a boat! No wonder you had to take some pitch out of your prop!!

Re: Nice stovetop toaster
Please don't tell my husband that. lol! Besides, we have this running joke about having too much stuff aboard and running the risk of being over-propped . . . so for every new thing he takes aboard, I threaten to remove the backup case of beer. And for every new thing I take aboard, he asks me what I'm going to take off. Case of beer, of course! Beer or toast, beer or toast . . . the answer is pretty obvious.
Ha ha Rob - you posted while I was typing this.

Bread and butter in a cast iron pan! Exactly what I have been doing. Maybe that's why we were burning 3/4 gph last summer.

Re: Nice stovetop toaster
This one's a high angle toaster, but might be worth considering. Price not bad either
http://www.qwikmarine.com/Dixon_Stainle ... p/tst2.htm
Downside to the Dixon is that it toasts one side at a time & doesn't toast both sides at once or fold flat for compact storage like this Delta does.

Of course the Delta's a bit on the pricey side, $49.40 from Amazon, but is pretty slick & all stainless steel.

Re: Nice stovetop toaster
I considered the Delta before deciding it was too expensive and thinking there must be a more inexpensive traditional toaster

Re: Nice stovetop toaster
Hey, I have the one cup coffee percolator reflected in the toaster! Came with the boat and works great.
Guess I'll stick with my cast iron skillet fry bread. It actually works pretty good, depending on what you were just cooking.

Re: Nice stovetop toaster
I'm not going to rush out & buy one any time soon either. I've spent enough on upgrades this year as it is (new 7 inch chartplotter, fixed & handheld DSC/GPS VHF radios). Maybe I'll ask Santa for one next Christmas. Need to go on a low carb diet anyway.I considered the Delta before deciding it was too expensive and thinking there must be a more inexpensive traditional toaster
