selling price of Albin 25
I've looked thru all Albin 25 I can find (26) and there's no correlation between age and asking price.
Does anyone have an idea what an Albin 25 ACTUALLY sells for?

Re: selling price of Albin 25
Anything after 81 isn’t an A25 since they stopped being built then. With boats this old value isn’t determined by age but condition. It actually might be useful if we started a thread with buying price and condition with 10 being like new and 1 being requiring a complete restoration. Asking price is often not a good indicator of selling price

Re: selling price of Albin 25
Also having a trailer or not and the trailer’s condition makes a big difference. The cheapest one I looked at was about $3000 with no trailer and a 1. Looked at about a 7 with decent trailer for $14k. (Canadian). Bought at $7500 with new engine and new trailer (both sitting for 8 yrs) with interior of boat about a 4 and no useable electronics. Original icebox.

Re: selling price of Albin 25
Kerrye got a good deal and a good deal more.
A25s are a lot like real estate. They cost what someone is willing to pay. They are too old to have a "book: value. Too many variables. Be smart. Take your time, figure out how to import from BC.
Decide what you would be willing to work on or have a yard picked out. Lots of ways to go.

Re: selling price of Albin 25
Pretty much what the traffic will bear, that's what.Does anyone have an idea what an Albin 25 ACTUALLY sells for?
There are a number of factors in what a seller will be willing to sell for and what a buyer is willing to pay to wit:
- Limited supply.
- Niche market demand
- Analogous to the real estate mantra 'location, location, location, in this case it's 'Condition, Condition, Condition.'
- Engine & drive train: Original recipe or extra crispy. In other words OEM Volvo or AD vs one repowered with some newer make & model such as Yanmar, Beta(marinized Kubota), Vetus, etc, etc
- Hours and running condition of said engine and drive line.
- Extras such as restored/reconditioned interior, updated electrical systems, thru hulls, electronics, or lack thereof.
So initial purchase may seem like a lot for an antique 'classic plastic' 25 foot boat in the 40 to 45 year age range. But build quality of the A25 is legendary, having actually having been built in Sweden makes it probably more so even than the A27. Also overall cost of ownership, especially if one can trailer store & transport, makes it THE "poor man's pocket trawler". And of course, that trailerability can open up so many cruising venues for those with the time, means, & inclination to make road trips. I think it would be awesome to have the living space and comfort of an Albin 36 based somewhere like the Pacific NW, the Great Lakes, Albemarle Sound, Florida, you name it. But for the most part can't go anywhere else like we've been able to do, the San Juans & Gulf Islands one year, Chesapeake Bay the next, the Sunshine Coast of BC the year after that, and Catalina Island this past summer.

Plus trailer able trawlers are much less common than trailerable sailboats so they command a premium

On my website there is a link to a page where I’ve posted the updated Albin 27 Buyers Guide. The guide has grown to 34 pages and includes four supplements, two of which may be of interest since they contain info on the Albin 25 and some discussion on pricing discrepancies.

Re: selling price of Albin 25
If you take the above list down as far as 1978, the average comes in at $17300. I think that is spot on for an average priced, good condition, usable A25. Should have a usable trailer for that price. Without a trailer, you might as well have the 27, or even larger models and leave it in the water.
Its been said before on this site, "what other boat does what the old A25 does". Trailerable, economical, affordable, extremely easy to work on etc etc, all for under $20,000. I'll take 2 please.

Re: selling price of Albin 25
Iron Jack may be the oldest A25 to show up on this site so far? Up until now I haven't seen mention of any hull numbers below our 1971 #736. Yes, they are oldies but goodies. Fredericton & Mactaquac look like pretty areas. Frozen tundra right now though. We love Canada, both East and West coasts....in the summer that is. Can't wait to get back to British Columbia again in June. Last summer we did an RV trip across parts of Ontario & Quebec from Niagara Falls to Montreal, but from there we cut over through Sherbrooke on our way to Bangor & Bar Harbor, Maine, and did not go as far up as New Brunswick or Nova Scotia. Bangor is not that far from Fredericton, but our itinerary was to head South from there.

Re: selling price of Albin 25
dkirsop's hull # has to be ancient, too. AD21 and all. Someday I'll remember mine.
"1973 11,000
1973 24,500"
I'd have to consider taking 24.5 for mine. That would only leave me in the hole a little bit.
But who's counting?

Re: selling price of Albin 25
BTW Iron Jack's hull number is 337. I figure the longer I have Iron Jack the more he is worth, which is only the price someone is willing to pay, right?

Re: selling price of Albin 25
See the "Albin25 in Florida" thread. This 1976 A25 listed for sale near Fort Lauderdale, Florida is asking $12,000 US, with a nice 2007 aluminun trailer & supposedly rebuilt Volvo MD17C engine. Sort of a project boat, mostly minor TLC items, & has what looks like good bottom paint. That's a bit on the low end for something with a good engine. It's otherwise stripped down, no electronics, ground tackle, etc, but with a good aluminum trailer included. I'd want a to get an in water check ride to see how well that engine actually runs, and if it did would consider it a good deal, especially if the seller was willing to negotiate some with a roll of Benjamins being waved in front of his face. A trailer like that would run in the $3K to $4K range new, and a used 2007 trailer like that in good shape worth at least $2K..

Re: selling price of Albin 25
I'm in Fort Myers area, a modest drive away from Ft. Lauderdale. If any serious prospective buyer would like to have me take a look and send me a checklist, I'd be happy to drive over. I'm a 27 owner but have lots of boat experience, and best of all, I'm retired so free to take a day to look it over.
PM me with phone number if serious.
