The current fresh water pump (sinks, shower, etc.) is a "full on" and "full off" type that is loud and annoying - causes the lights to dim every time it kicks on.
I'm looking at the SHURFLO® AQUA KING™ II 2.0 GPM or the 3.0 GPM as a possible replacement.
Does anyone know the specs for the current pump that comes with the Albin 28 TE? Ours is a 2005 model.
It's installed so that the nameplate is facing the wall.
GPM? Pressure rating (40 lbs, 60 lbs)?
Anything else I need to know about changing the pump?

Re: A28TE Fresh Water Pump replacement
The pump on my boat is the Aqua Jet by Johnson Pumps but the manual I have is for 2.9, 3.5, 4.0, and 5.2 gpm models. They all are rated at maximum of 40.6 psi. I will look when I go to the boat and see if I can determine which one I have.

Re: A28TE Fresh Water Pump replacement
I think the PSI rating is important. Pretty sure the pipe fittings are only rated to 50 psi assuming they’re all John Guest fittings?

Re: A28TE Fresh Water Pump replacement
I believe mine is a 40 PSI but not 100% sure. I think you can go off the of the number of possible water uses for the GPM - there are guides in West Marine etc for that kind of thing (i.e. how many faucets / showers there are on the boat).
However, I'm not sure if they make the pumps with new technology or not but the way to reduce that cycling etc is to install one of those water pressure reservoir tanks. It just hasn't been a big deal for me but they are I think about $50.

Variable Speed is the way to go. Here's the one I put in T-R, it was excellent.

Pretty sure mine has been replaced at some point on FP2. You can hear the tone change when you turn on two faucets. Variable speed would make sense. I’ll have to look now!

The pump on my boat is the 5.2 gph version. I think you would be dissatisfied with a lower rating pump.

Re: A28TE Fresh Water Pump replacement
Thanks everyone.
The Jabsco Sensor-Max is what we had on our 2001 DeFever 49 CPMY. We carried 375 gallons of water. The washing machine used 35 to 50 gallons depending on load size. With three years of heavy use (lived onboard full-time while cruising the great-loop), it worked great when we sold the boat. When we first got the boat, we had to replace the pump due to dirt accumulation (former owners didn't filter the water going into their tanks).
Once we flushed the water tanks and started using the Camco Taste Pure water filters on the intake side, we had no more dirt and no more problems. We do that today with the A28TE and the water tastes great (after about 5 or 6 times running the tank dry and refilling using the filter).
When I first looked, it said the Sensor-Max was obsolete.
But there it is. Alive and well. Thank you Rob.
The PSI rating sounds about right. 30-40 PSI
Number of fixtures to Recommended gpm
1-2 Up to 3.0gpm
2-3 Up to 4.0gpm
4+ More than 4.0gpm
The Model 31750 has the 1/2 inch barbs (in - out) and the 31755 has the 3/4 inch barbs.
Now it's time to see which one.
Thank you again.
Bob
