First years for the bigger Cummins in the 28TE
The Albin 28TE and the Shamrock 270 are boats under consideration, but want Cummins and 20 knot cruise. As I search, this eliminates the Shamrock 270 since they didn't use Cummins. They did on their 26 but it is a wet boat. So, now researching the Albin 28TE. Note it first came out in 1993, but what was the first years that had a Cummins larger than the 250 and which Cummins was that. I have seen discussion regarding a 1997 with the larger engine, but wonder if any before that. Thanks

I think for pre 97 there were only Peninsulars and Cummins 250s.

That will help narrow the search since I do want 20 knots with a Cummins, although with the discussion about noise level and water intrusion maybe I need to rethink my preferences. Maybe even give up on the boat if I have to give up on the Cummins. Of course if I could find one with the middle size Cummins and the super, extra factory sound proofing, it might be worth while for me to still purchase knowing I might need to modify the exhaust system.

There is an older 28 that I believe was repowered with a Cummins 350 for sale in California. Check the Swap/Sell/Trade page for more info.

Ben I looked up the mentioned boat. Not sure what a 350 Cummins is that they listed. The 370B is listed at 355, but don't know if that is their engine or not. California is a long ways from the Panhandle of Florida, but appreciate the reference. I have also seen a 1996 with the bigger engine, but that may be the earliest. They would be within my budget. Thanks

A 370b may be listed as a 355 as the is a actual prop HP.

So maybe the 350 hp Cummins is the 370b model. That would work. Thanks for the reference.
