Bilge pump switch 28TE aft

As long as the engine is out of our boat, we're going to install a new float switch for what I call the aft bilge pump. The switch and the intake hose are deep under the engine near the forward edge of the fuel tank. The diaphragm pump is on the equipment shelf under the helm.

The existing switch is a typical Rule float switch. (Actually, now that I study my photos, I see three float switches down there in the filth! I'm guessing that two failed in the past and were abandoned.) This is our chance to do something different if it makes sense.

Suggestions welcome.

I recommend an Ultra Junior switch.
Much better than the Rule products.

Would love to see some pictures of what is down there on an an earlier model like ours. I know I have a small submersible pump under there and also the pickups for the diaphram pump (inoperable) and our manual pump. It is such a remote location I'm thinking about abandoning that submersible pump and installing another one either by the rudder shaft log or just aft of the forward engine room bulkhead.

My pump, a somewhat anemic and ill-placed Rule, uses an integral switch. I'll have to throw the whole thing away when it dies. Good luck!

Sisu, our bilge is pretty much empty now - not much to see other than a lot of filth. We don't have submersible pump under the engine - just the diaphragm pump on the shelf and a submersible in the bow.
