1987 36 Autopilot
I'm wanting to add an autopilot to my 1987 Albin 36 and the unit I'm considering is the Si-Tex SP-70, my question is what size pump should I go with? They make two sizes, an 18 ci and a 30 ci. My problem is that I live 300 miles away from the boat and every time I have a question I get down to my boat and find out the answer only to return home to find another question.

Re: 1987 36 Autopilot
I have that autopilot and I got the larger pump. It works well and is fast.
I believe the smaller pump would work, but it will be slower to move the rudder.
On my previous boat I installed a marginally small sized pump and it had trouble at times. That experience taught me to go with the larger size this time.

Agree with Jay (I would be crazy not to) - my Simrad AP - I went with the larger pump as well - works like a charm. I could really think of a few times in the swells that I am glad to have the larger one.
