Replacing Wiper Arm

Post by gcmarshall »

Hi all,
One of my wipers "dropped off" a couple days ago. The base just corroded, as you can see from the pics. I probably have to take a dremel to it, to cut off the rest, and then clean it up a bit. The seasalt has it stuck pretty good, even after removing the little grub screw that holds it in place.

Where can I get a replacement from?

Depends on the length you need but pretty off the shelf at West Marine. This is what I used on mine before going to panographic.

Well I used a hacksaw and cut two slots and then used a screwdriver to open it up and break the corrosion seal. Be careful with a dremel it can go bad fast.

Got all the arms off, had to use a hacksaw and lots of cussing.
Managed to cut a piece off the motor shaft, may have to use a longer screw to compensate.
Got new blades and arms at West Marine, a direct replacement, can’t tell any difference.
Paid $131,50 with Sales Tax, but that reflects a discount, full price without tax about $180,-.

Disappointed, new blades and new arms are not cleaning the full arch.
Any ideas..?

Will answer my own question: Called the manufacturer and they said to bend the blades slightly towards the rubber, and voila. All good.
