Has anyone experienced an intermittent heavy overload of the charging circuit in a 31 TE with a Cummins,
I have isolated the entire distribution system and cannot find the culprit, as it only occurs intermittently.... Need help !

Re: Charging System Problem
Have you tried pulling the fuse on the air heater control circuit?

Re: Charging System Problem
To Rob, thank you, as usual you were right on the mark!
Not knowing enough about diesels, I was not aware of air intake heaters, apparently the controller is malfunctioning
and constantly calling for heat. Again thank you for your input. Gene

Re: Charging System Problem
Ouch, that's tough on your alternator and battery, especially on a boat with a bow thruster. Easy enough to deal with though..

Re: Charging System Problem
I had a similar issue with my 370 6bta. The voltage meter would bounce down low & up continuing to cycle until the engine was warmed up. I disconnected the air pre-heater which was not needed for my warm season boating .. problem solved.
