"Bigger wake for the semi-displacement"? I think not. Our 1976 with her original MD17C exhibits a very mild wake at 1800rpm and just a tad less than 8mph.Image

Frank has it right, 1700rpm and 11.7 knots. (Click on picture to set it aright and click again to zoom in.) We had to do the south sound just for that reason. We were still a couple hours before max flood tide. And I left the motorcycle helmets home, whew!

Like shooting rapids! I did see those numbers, but thought I must be misunderstanding.

For comparison (screen shots of video clips)

Stern wave/wake of Sunsetrider's A25 DeLuxe "Manatee" with 36 HP Volvo MD17C cruising Thousand Islands at what, 11 knots?
AA Manatee wake.jpg
Stern wave/wake of 1971 displacement A25 "La Dolce Vita with 24 HP Yanmar 3GM30F cruising British Columbia at 6.5 knots & 2,350 RPM
AA La Dolce Vita Wake.jpg
That's the main difference horsepower & semi-displacement hull makes.

We were running at 2300 rpm but I don't think I checked the SOG. We were clipping nicely along. It was our first good run after getting the tach working - it had been out of commission for a season and I had been reluctant to push the engine without knowing the revs. Fun day!
