Bleed Valve not closing

Post by rebuckley »

On my Lehman 120, the coolant bleed valve does not seem to close. I open to allow air out while refilling the coolant, and then when I close it - and use a towel to pull the excess coolant off - it keeps coming - so I do not think it is sealing up.
Is this something that is easy to replace, and where could I find one? It looks like it would simply spin right out, and could actually be replaced with a bolt for a temp fix????
I am guessing the answer will be ADC, but figured I would check

These are called "drainage valves", "stopcocks", or "petcocks".
It is a common part, you should be able to buy at a well stocked ACE hardware store, automotive store, or thru McMaster-Carr, etc.
You can remove it , it has normal pipe threads (NPT). You can temporarily replace with a pipe plug until you source the correct part.
It's probably either 1/8 or 1/4 NPT.
OR JB weld it until the end of the season if you can get it dry enough.
