Thanks Mike going to put a few trips together this week and next. Here in San Clemente for a few weeks. Then to Catalina for a week if you get over.

We're still going for Rockfish only here on the northern channel islands, but hopefully the yellowtail and tuna will still come a bit north this year.

Well we went out yesterday and did 80nm and went all the way down to the 181 and no bites. Twice the action was coming right to us and we were chumming and ready to go and no bites. Last year when this was happening we landed a large bluefin. I hope Mike got lucky yesterday. But a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work.

I'll say that is a nice fish. One of those and you can stop fishing for the season.

How well did you find the albin backing down on that fish? I can't go astern into my berth without using the thruster!

I tried to keep the line at a 45 degree angle from the bow so I could chase the fish in forward. The thruster definitely came in handy near the end of the fight and when maneuvering around lobster gear.

That's good to know. We are seeing a number of big thresher sharks here at the moment and about 150 miles down the coast bluefin have been caught. Never know what will happen one day!
