albin 25 w/ volvo 2003T engine

Post by gregor »

Hello
Our mighty albin 25 delux berthed in Brisbane Harbor on S.F.bay got a clean bottom and inspection by us during last heat wave here in Calif.
Seems the only place to fit a zinc is prop holding nut area. any suggestions.
After we spent 2 hrs in the water we figured it was time to head out to the Bayview Boat club on the S.F. waterfront. Well on thing led to another and we started home from S.F. around 11pm. Near Hunters Point heading south to Brisbane our oil alarm went off so we limped back to Brisbane while monotoring oil pressure and the next day found we had lost 2 qts oil. We refilled and found a major leak only when fired up for 20 seconds.
Seems to be spurting out on right side of engine about 1/3 back from alt on right side of engine way up under the exp tank only when fired up. We have a manual for the volvo 2003T engine but it is somewhat skimpy on info.
Does anyone have a thought on what might be going on. Maybe oil sensor leak?
Except for this problem we are sure impressed with hull lines and prop/rudder set up.
We love our new/old boat and would love any input ya all can give us.
cheers
Gregor

I'm not sure about the Volvo, but I was told that the Yanmar has an oil plug on the side of the engine that I could use to connect a multi-stage oil filter system. You might want to check and see if there is some type of plug that may have come lose.
