Kevin, You'll have to use a tapered block inside and outside to mount a vertical DS transducer. It's not difficult at all. It would be a lot easier to explain over the phone than to print out here. Give me a call @ (865)233-3621. I've installed more than a hundred on boats from 35' to 200'. Ben

I have a 1989 36' DC. When I purchased the boat 4 years ago, I installed Garmin 4212's at each station. The next season, I installed an Aimar DT800V-20° NMEA 2000 depth transducer in place of the aft head overboard discharge seacock. The transducer is supposed to function at angles up to 24 deg. I left the original Datamarine depth transducer and electronics in place as they were functioning fine and now we have a redundant backup depth system. The new unit seems to agree pretty well with the Datamarine system. I didn't purchase dedicated displays for the new depth sounder. The depth is shown on the Garmin displays.
