Yikes that's gonna be a pain. It will involve reglassing the tube to the hull. I would prob go with fiberglass as that's what the factory used (at least on my boat). As to where to buy the tube I have no clue, I would assume that most good shipbuilding supplies should have them in several sizes

That's the cutless bearing housing. I think he's referring to the stern tube which is the glassed in tube that the shaft seal is attached to. The cutless bearing housing doesn't seal the shaft which is why I'm assuming he's talking about the stern tube

Maybe Russ was referring to a bronze flanged shaft log. In the attached pics of my 28TE Albin you can see Albin used a glassed in stern tube, not a shaft log. Not sure on the 31 but my "guess" would be a fiberglass stern tube as well. You just need the measurements and purchase the stock accordingly. Here's one job where the labor will outweigh the materials BIG TIME.

Funny this came up as I was recently up in Maine at a downeast boat builder and we were talking about my current and prior boats and when I mentioned the Albin the first thing he mentioned was about the stern tubes leaking. Was the first I heard of it...

I've heard of one 28 that had a leak in the same spot (not mine thankfully!). But I'm 80% sure that boat has since sold with full disclosure
