Peninsular Tach

Post by Pedro »

My Penninsular tach seems to have an issue, the revolution dial reads correctly but at shut down stays stuck at around 600-800 rpm.Hour meter reading is intermittent but appears to be accurate eand continuous even when not displaying. Is it shot?Wires seems to be connected.

If it's a Faria tach you can return it to the company for repair

Well it's winter project list time, The vdo tach needs to be replaced, but how do I preserve the hour meter reading?
Do I just save the old one and pass it along to a future buyer to be accurate about the boats total hours? Or do you try to fast forward the hour meter the existing hours?

I don't know that you can't home, but I think if you send your tach to vdo they can program the new one with the old tachs hours but I'm not positive. The vdo people are very helpful, at least the people I talked to were

Vdo gave the number of a company that will program the hour meter to the same as the old tach,I just ship them both, so I'll do that over the winter,as soon as she gets shrinkwrapped,
